SubContractor Requirements and Qualifications

  • Not everyone who apply will be accepted as our worldwide SubContractors

  • Not every CorpClient will be accepted as our worldwide support if we're NOT able to meet your support requirements

  • General Requirements
    • Paying Customers is always right .. don't argue or discuss the "better way" unless they're looking for suggestions

    • industry standard: good (written, reading, listening, verbal ) communication skills, .. blah .. blah .. :-)

    • industry standard: good people skills with a sense of humor as everybody will be under heavy stress until the problem is resolved

    • you must be available and on call 24x7 or during a specified period
      • if you do NOT reply to your email or phone, it'd be assumed you're busy to take the new incoming support call from Clients

    • you provide support for a living ( you work for yourself )

    • you do NOT work for another employer while "oncall" with us

    • you are in the Linux Support Mailing list

    • you will be added to the "review database" so that everyone can see 1st person comments, no hearsay

SubContractor Levels

  • Level-1 SubContractor ( Any Gorilla )
    • Not all CorpClients are willing to sit there and power cycle the Servers, so we'd need *you* to be our remote hands
    • we will randomly call you to go to a Client site to provide some onsite support
      • hit the power switch
      • insert a CD into the drive bay
      • replace motherboards, replace hard disks, replace fans .. etc ..
      • pack the Client's server and return to us for RMA

  • Level-2 SubContractor ( Me-2 Bear )
    • knows enough to follow directions to install linux and get the machine online

  • Level-3 SubContractor ( Better than the Average Bear )
    • the SubContractors will have had to demonstrate ALL the skills necessary to solve the particular problem at hand per Client specifications and requirements

    • Score 90% or higher on the "Linux Consultants Qualifcation Form"

    • You must be an EXPERT at booting a completely or partially dead system or misbehaving system
    • You would have answered numerous questions correctly in your favorite mailing lists
    • You have published e-zine articles with "step-by-step do this and it works examples"

    • You have hardware background too
      • you have built your own ix86 based motherboards with your own custom BIOS
      • you have know "circuit design, logic design, firmware, oscilloscope, soldering irons, ...

  • Level-4 SubContractor ( Guru status )
    • you have your own "HOWTO documention" on the first page of google results
    • you have your own "knowledge base" on the first page of google results
    • you have your own customized corporate/commercial "distro"
        ( 3rd order drivative or higher )
    • you have written or currently maintain one of the top-500 GPL'd programs

  • Level-5 SubContractor ( NetGod status )
    • you can do everything correctly, properly, better, faster, more reliably and repetably than the fastest bear
